Camp Pendleton, Ca - Marines serving with Bravo Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, attach a detonation cord to a 40-pound shape charge at Range 108 here, June 19, 2013. The company conducted a demolition training range where Marines learned about the capabilities of various explosives such as dynamite, TNT, shape charges and C4. The charges are used by engineers to destroy heavily armored vehicles, defensive obstacles and bridges.

The first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will be dismantled at the shipyard prior to the scheduled commissioning of the next aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVN 80). Capt. Jonathan Ferricher prepares a C-130J for flight June 4, 2013, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The Denton Amendment allows U.S. military aircraft to transport, on a space-available basis, humanitarian supplies from nongovernment organizations to people around the world who are in need of assistance. The 317th Airlift Group transported the supplies to Pope Army Airfield, N.C., where it will be taken to Joint Base Charleston, S.C., and then to Afghanistan. GULF OF OMAN (June 15, 2013) An F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the "Blue Diamonds" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 146 launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) before taking off.
