The large cannon is a 3-inch ordnance rifle which took an 8-man crew to fire and six horses to pull. The smaller piece is a 12-pound mountain howitzer which fired canister, making it like a large shotgun. The boy in red is holding a popular artilleryman's rifle, a breech- loading Smith carbine (made by a different Smith than the one involved with Smith & Wesson). The Civil War artillery crewman was at the Honor Our Veterans Event at the Military Honor Park. (Photos by Ron Garrett)
